College to Career

College to Career Workshop

Location:   UF Emerson Alumni Hall

Date: Thursday, February 18, 2010

Time:  6:00pm – 8:00pm

Host:  Stephanie Pollard, MPH (Health Workshops R Us)

Contact Info:  spollard142@aol.com and www.stephaniepollard.org

The Workshop is to give information on how to transition from being a student to starting a career. One of the problems I have notice new graduates have is finding a job position that is in the field that they graduated in.  I have spoken to several college groups and what I want them to know is that they have to be creative in finding a position.  The job description is the key to them deciding which job they should take.

1.  The Workshop goal is to teach on how to read and understand a job description.

2.  Illustrate how be creative in the position you have or hope to have and make that position fit your career goals.

Guest Speakers Mike Powell (UF Admissions), James Speer, Jr. (UF Former Football Player), Dr. Paul Ortiz (UF Director of Oral History), Stephanie Pollard (Resume Etiquette”), and Career Resource Center Representatives (Tips on Cover Letters)

1.   My first goal is to teach on how to read and understand a job description.

2.   Illustrate how be creative in the position they have or hope to have and make that position fit their career goals.

I have a Mayor and Insurance Company Owner that will be speaking.  I will speak on “Reducing Stress while Looking”

Location:  Tower Road Library – Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 1:30pm – 4:00pm.
